The USS Monitor (NCC-97801) was a Federation Scryer-class science vessel active in Starfleet in the early 25th century. It was assigned to Starfleet Intelligence. In 2410, Monitor was assigned to a covert reconnaissance mission against the True Way within Cardassian Union borders, attempting to ascertain the cause of a sudden advance by the terrorist group against the Cardassian Defense Force. This mission was superseded when another Federation starship dropping humanitarian aid to an Oralian Way colony on Selmak came under attack by True Way forces, now calling themselves the Cardassian Third Empire. SI Rear Admiral Alvatrassi zh'Zoarhi rerouted Monitor to assist in the evacuation of Selmak.
