The Magnetic Fields is a band for which Daniel Handler played. In A Series of Unfortunate Events there are many references to Lemony Snicket playing the accordion, creating a connection between Handler and Snicket. A popular album of theirs is 69 Love Songs, on which Mr. Handler played accordion for many of the songs.
