A UFO wave swept South Africa from late March to mid April, which was widely reported in the media. The first observation was made by a resident of De Brug, near Bloemfontein, in the early morning hours of 30 March. A Mrs Erasmus videotaped a hovering light which changed colour. The police was notified at 2:20am, and the presence of the object was confirmed on arrival of the police flying squad.
