Primeval is a British television series based on palaeontology, combined with a twist of time travel. In Primeval, a team of palaeontologists encounters an "anomaly" in time allowing other time periods to merge with the present. They encounter animals from the distant past, such as giant insects from the Carboniferous and a gorgonopsid from the Permian, as well as anomalies from the future, allowing them to see the future of evolution on the planet Earth. Because of the future animals, this television series can be considered a work of speculative evolution.
