Shū Kumoai (雲合い集 Kumoai Shuu, lit: Collection, Look of the Sky) is the current lieutenant of the 5th Division under the Scorpion Tenjōgekido, Gūtara Kiyō. He is a prospect of great talent, and has been known to have an unusual growth rate since his promotion. Shū had encountered Gūtara only a few months before his promotion to lieutenant, Shū was in a life or death situation as he was pit against many powerful Hollow. However, Gūtara, despite coming with the intention to destroy Gai Nagareboshi instead saved the young life and decided to nurture him in the arts of combat.
