VA-64 (Heavier than air squadron, Attack, 64) was established on 1 July 1961. It was known as the Black Lancers. It was formed to provide an air defense capability for Carrier AntiSubmarine Air Groups. They flew A4D-2N/A-4C and A4D-2 aircraft. They were disestablished on in 7 November 1969.
