Ivy created Nauplius by showering a piece of flesh with the energy of Soul Edge which runs through her veins. She has not told the emperor about this experiment due to it being morally questionable, and acknowledges that she may need to eventually burn down the estate to eradicate evidence related to it. It is kept in a cage.
