Gladebarley was an edible plant found in the open glades of the Deepwoods. It was cultivated and cut with a scythe. The way the fields of gladebarley moved in the wind was often used as a rehtoric simile. A gruel of gladebarley and Woodthyme was a common dish among Deepwooders.
