X-361D was an orbital probe droid that was part of an Imperial network of such probes that witnessed the catastrophic end of the Invasion of Ziost. The energy released by Vitiate disabled technology across the globe, sending the orbital probes crashing to the planet's surface. The memory cores of many of the probes, including X-361D, were scavenged to gather data on the event, though the droid reactivated upon an initial attempts and was destroyed in order to retrieve the core.
