Steve reached a milestone in 1992, 60 consecutive years of hockey involvement in Dauphin. As a player, He was a member of the powerhouse intermediate Kings of the early 50's. He began coaching in 1952, and in '72 guided the junior Kings to a Manitoba championship. He was one of the architects of the new Manitoba Junior Hockey League (1968), and was instrumental in bringing junior hockey to Dauphin.
