Avram dwelled in Cologne's Jewish quarter. He offered the werewolf Dieter sanctuary when the latter was pursued by townsfolk. He showed Dieter that he and Jews have something in common: that both them are hated and feared by the townsfolk for something they can't help being. By the time Dieter's pursuers have left, he developed an odd comradeship with Avram.
