They made an attempt at Israel, but were bogged down there for the duration and were unable to conquer the small country, and moved on to Egypt, and countries fell like dominoes. They captured capitals and great cities across the northern coast of Africa, and set up governments there, eventually consolidating these various territories into the Great Caliphate.
