Mrs. Mellinger is a music teacher who attempted to teach Fry the holophonor. She is portrayed as a classic, posh, old lady, in her mannarisms and interactions with other characters, such as when Bender says to her, "we hope to see you soon for tea". After first meeting Bender with Fry, she assumes Bender is his father. Her name may be a reference to Ms. Mellon, a teacher from The Simpsons.
