Usagi Binjiro was a bushi of the Hare Clan. He was a contenders in one of the Tournament of the Emperor's Favored, and his younger brother, a sickly shugenja named Tojiro, attended as a spectator. Binjiro discovered the trappings of a maho-tsukai the day before the tournament began. Unknown to him, his brother was who had discarded the materials. Tojiro was willing to make almost any sacrifice in order to be strong like his brother, whom he idolized.
