He is described as loud-mouthed and a rascal, but kind with a brave heart in the novel. He also seems to have a thing for boots. In the movie adaption, the only changes were that he had no concern at all for boots and has a Brookln accent. It was also implied that he and Miss Spider had feelings for one another, despite their Cat and Dog behavior towards eachother. One example is that he blushed and smiled when Miss Spider kissed his cheek after the pirate scene while another scene showed him and Miss Spider dancing while singing "Family" along with Grasshopper.
