For the European version of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (MPO), Konami added twelve additional soldier types for players to use. Similar to the unique character Gako, as well as the Special Camo Soldiers that were exclusive to the Japanese version of the game, these European local soldiers are Soviet soldiers dressed in special camouflage uniforms, particularly modeled after the national flag of a European nation. These characters are added to the player's team by winning matches online during Real Combat mode. They can be used in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus (MPO+) as well.
