Peterson was one of the hired soldiers working for terrorist mercenary Ira Gaines during Day 1. Peterson led a group of mercenaries to hunt down Jack Bauer, his family Teri and Kim, and Rick Allen as they escaped from Gaines' compound. Peterson's group was across the creek bed and was planning to meet up with Maxton and his men. Maxton reported this to Gaines over the radio when Ira was trying to determine the source of gunfire in the distance. ("12:00pm-1:00pm")
