Juma(JM004) was first seen in September 1993 in a group called Jaskson Five as a young male, approximately six months old. He was easily reconized by a dark smear underneath his right eye. The group was very small and struggled to survive. The dominant female of the group was predated, followed by the dominant male and a subordinate female. Eventually only Juma and his three younger sisters remained. As the females were too young to lead, Juma became the leader. But after the rains arrived an unrelated male joined the group and Juma took to roving. Two months later he was found in a new group that consisted of two adult females and a subadult male.
