The expression credit crunch lunch has been used during the Financial crisis of 2007-2008 (credit crunch) in regards to home made packed lunch that even the best paid City workers have started eating in order to save money in such a difficult period of financial crisis. The expression has also emerged by the way pubs and cafes have started advertising their promotional offers, to encourage those people who are avoiding eating out in order to save money.
