In South America, the evolution edentates lasted more successful, although the disappearance of tropical forests has led to the extinction of all sloths. But in Neocene armadillos have made a significant evolutionary success. Among them were digging and specialized insectivorous species, and one species of these animals has evolved in a very peculiar creature.
