The Plasma Beam is acquired after finding the Grapple Beam in the Phazon Mines, found in a room in the Magmoor Caverns. In this appearance, it represents the element of fire and it fires streams of molten energy, which can, naturally, set enemies on fire. A charged shot can instantly incinerate most larger enemies. It has the second fastest rate of fire in the game, after the Power Beam, and coupled with its high attack power, the Plasma Beam is easily the best beam weapon in the game.
