The Constable was a policeman who found the missing Christopher Hewitt's empty pram on some waste ground being played with by children. It had been dumped by Joan Akers after she had kidnapped the baby in October 1962. On month later, the same character investigated some washbasins being sold by Jed Stone. The character was credited as Constable, but dialogue in Episode 189 establishes his surname as Rose.
