Sarissa Moretti was a human civilian who grew up "off the grid" and learned to survive Earth's city streets from her mother, a fugitive from a murky and dangerous past. At the tender age of eleven, she was left to fend for herself when her mother mysteriously disappeared. She was taken in by social services and put into foster care, where it quickly became evident that she possessed intelligence beyond her years. She went on to graduate from high school at sixteen and enrolled at a prestigious university, where she studied for seven months; following an attempted kidnapping, she faked her death and dropped off the grid, returning to the streets. She then embarked on a personal quest to find out why someone would try to kidnap her, and what happened to her mother.
