Robert Hugh Montgomery (c.1879-1951) was an American-born businessman and local politician. The son of Thomas J Montgomery of of Larchmont Manor, New York, he was born in Boston but was a British subject by parentage. In the late 1890s he moved to the UK to study at Merton College, Oxford. By 1901 he had moved to South Kensington and was living with his widowed mother, Harriet Montgomery: both living "on own means". He moved to to Westminster, and in 1904 married Katherine Lucy Ventris Coward, daughter of the Recorder of Folkestone.
