Kirau was a friend and former informant of Ling, a former Death Lotus assassin. After helping her assassinate Tombi, corrupt khan of Thalassia, Kirau is blackmailed by Quin into helping her kill Ling. In order to protect his family from being murdered by Quin, Kirau complies and sets a trap for Ling on Tokoko - as a result she is ambushed there when trying to assassinate Baby Tooth, but manages to escape. Ling realised Kirau had betrayed her and went to him, at which point he revealed that Quin had threatened him. Ling kills Kirau by stabbing him in the chest, a fate he accepted quietly, before burying him.
