The Children of Omelas—also known as The Children and Omelas, respectively—are a paramilitary force of renegade SPARTAN-III commandos that emerged in opposition to the United Earth Government several years after the end of the Human-Covenant War. Believing Spartans to be humanity's "destiny as a species" and unwilling to submit to the control of non-Spartans, they sought to establish a militant Spartan nation while researching means to produce new Spartans outside of the UNSC's jurisdiction.
