The Second Battle of Earth, more-commonly known as the Liberation of Earth, was one of the last major engagements of the Der'kal Invasion, pitting the remaining forces of the Free People of Earth against the numerically superior alien fleet guarding the planet. The human attack succeeded against all odds, though only due to the use of the Ancient superweapon known as "Pandora's Box", allowing them to inflict extremely disproportionate damage on the enemy in an incredibly short period of time. With Earth finally back in its people's hands, the stage was set for a long period of reconstruction, but not before one last series of showdowns between the ideals of the Resistance fighters and the FPE.
