Kate Byrd is the estranged wife of philanthropist Benjamin Byrd in the Season 8 episode Charity Case. She was portrayed by actress Joanna Strapp. Kate left Benjamin when he started giving all his money away and refused to spend anything but the minimum amount on his wife and children. When he was admitted to hospital, she came back to see him. However, she couldn't bring herself to visit him unless it became apparent that his wife and children meant more to him than strangers.
