Frank Dawson is one of the Old Ones. On Midwinter's Eve, he gives Will Stanton the first of the Six Signs, the Sign of Iron, whilst giving him the cryptic warnings that 'the Walker is abroad' and that everything for Will was to change on Midwinter Day, his 11th birthday.
