PC Collins had dealings with three incidents involving several Coronation Street residents: In October 2007, he and a male colleague attended the scene when David Platt had driven his car into the canal. The officers spoke to a man who was the only witness to the incident and were present when David's car was raised from the water. He was also one of several officers called to Rosamund Street Medical Centre in August 2009 when Joe McIntyre, addicted to prescription drugs, went berserk in search of his next fix. Joe was arrested for burglary but released on bail to appear in court a week later.
