Power of the Chaos Emeralds is a 2-part story by Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson and Ellie de Ville. Sonic and Tails have tracked Doctor Robotnik's Egg-o-Matic to the Floating Island, but Knuckles the Echidna is furious. Instead of fighting him, Knuckles activates a pair of giant hands that trap Sonic. In the Temple of Chaos, Robotnik recombines the two sets of Chaos Emeralds and absorbs their power to become invincible, turning Tails to glass while he's at it. A coy Knuckles pulls out the Grey Emerald and sends Robotnik back to Mobius without his powers.
