The planet formerly belonged to Goa'uld System Lord Ba'al, he abandoned Kreshnor when its resources were exhausted. Stargate has not been active since Ba'al abandoned planet. The capital Denkh is the central square of the society on the planet. Kreshnor is a barren and inhospitable world there are seven smaller cities on the planet that is close to those few remaining water sources between desolate landscape that stretches for miles.
