Songi was a humanoid who was the chairman of the government on Gamelan V. Songi asked for assistance from the USS Enterprise-D when the planet was threatened by an ancient waste barge that entered the planet's orbit. It was leaking deadly radiation into the atmosphere. The leak was so massive that the levels of radiation could exterminate all life on the planet. Songi was frantic, since the Gamelan V natives did not have the technology to cope with the situation. The Enterprise-D was able to save the planet by pushing the barge into the sun, where it harmlessly exploded. (TNG: "Final Mission" )
