Sev is the youngest of five siblings, the latest generation of a distinguished, upper middle class Hapan family with tenuous claims to nobility. Although they technically have a title it comes with neither land nor money; the Mainards are rich entirely by the actions of Sev’s great grandmother Ivelina, who amassed a fortune from a shipping company that started out as a single ship carrying freight between various planets in the Cluster. It expanded from there, building a business profitable enough to support the entire family and sprawling enough to employ most of them.
