George MacDonald and Neville Radd bought drinks for Elsie Howard, Bet Lynch and Rita Littlewood when the girls went on a night out to a club in June 1976. George stayed sober as he was driving, but without the drink to loosen his tongue, George barely said anything all night, leaving Neville to chat up the women. When the night was over, George drove the party back to Elsie's house in Coronation Street. The men eagerly accepted Bet's invitation to come in for a drink but Elsie got rid of them, much to Rita's relief.
