Earth's Children is a series of books by Jean Auel. The stories are set in the late Paleolithic period, during which two species of human beings, Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons, both exist. The main character is Ayla, an orphaned Cro-Magnon adopted and raised by a tribe of Neanderthals.
