Freckers were a species of small sentient rodents. Though wild and brutal, they were capable of intelligent speech. Freckers also wore clothes, denoting some manner of culture. Five years before the Battle of Yavin, Gru'um Ropple and Miramba transported a horde of Freckers to Jabba Desilijic Tiure's palace, planning to assassinate the Hutt crime lord by unleashing the Freckers to kill him during his sleep. As it happened, Bib Fortuna, Jabba's majordomo, had plans of his own; he and six co-conspirators hoped to capture Jabba alive so that they could pry out as many secrets as possible before killing him.
