Nation Song Contest 83 was the 83rd edition of the Nation Song Contest, held for the first time in Rumia. Despite only finishing in fourth place in the previous contest, all of the top three - namely Zechonia, 10 Regions of Mobius and Zoidiac - declined to host. This edition saw the long-awaited debut entries of both Paperland and Illumia, with both countries managing to reach the final of the contest, having waited nearly a year to join the contest. Paperland was also the winner of this edition, making them the first debut winners since Ecclestonia's first entry and triumph in NSC 48
