The Doctor at Weatherfield General treated Carla Connor after she was hurled to the ground and seriously injured in an attempt to retrieve her stolen handbag from a moving getaway car following a raid on Nick's Bistro. The Doctor told Nick Tilsley and Carla's family that she had fractured ribs, a broken wrist and a dislocated shoulder but there was also internal bleeding which required an operation to assess the cause. That procedure went successfully when her damaged spleen was removed and, after some time, Carla fully recovered from her ordeal.
