Shade is the son of Ariel and Cassiel Silverwing, and later the father of Griffin Silverwing and becoming mate to Marina Brightwing. He is the protagonist of the novel Silverwing as well as its sequel, Sunwing. In the third installment, Firewing, he is one of the main characters.
