Arj was a university friend and love interest of Amber Kalirai. She dropped out of their university in London after failing and went to stay in Weatherfield. Arj went to see her after graduating and whilst she was entertaining him in her flat, Amber's father Dev Alahan knocked on the door to pester her, after being told by Sophie Webster that Amber was seeing a boyfriend. Amber acting as if she was alone but Dev was persistent, and less than happy when Arj came down to stairs.
