The Dog Asp (Vipera pseudocanis aspis) is the Awakened form of the European asp (Vipera aspis) and is one of the few truly dangerous snakes in Europe (which contains less than 1 percent of the snake population worldwide). It has a dark zigzag stripe set against pale grey to jet black scales. They have the rather disconcerting and unusual ability of mimicking the bark of a dog, which is mostly used to either lure the offending creature (through some sort of magical influence) or warn trespassers away. The venom of the Dog Asp is one of the most lethal venoms among European snakes. The Dog Asp lives in France, Italy, and northern Spain, especially in the Alps and the Pyrenees mountains.
