The Xitai Trade Star is one of the most recently constructed trade stars, and for now the only one outside Dominion space. Its existence is a logical consequence of the heavy trading between the Kartanin Dominion and the Black Star Confederacy, but the project has been delayed heavily until all legal and administrative matters have been negotiated and finalized. While the Kartanin gave the matter as much attention as they did to most overly complicated contracts and treaties that didn't directly affect them - namely, very little - the Nitaaru themselves and Confederate representatives discussed applicable trade law and jurisdiction over years, into the very finest details.
