Morano: The 117-Year Old Musical, sometimes referred to simply as Morano, is a 2016 American-Italian musical dramedy film directed, co-diected and produced by Damien Chazelle, best known for his films, Whiplash and La La Land, the latter which has won Oscars. The film is based on the life of supercentenarian Emma Morano, who was 117 at the time of this movie's filming, and who was (is) the oldest living person. The film stars Sofia Coppola as the titular Emma Morano whose life is narrated (or sung) throughout numerous musical numbers. The ensemble cast includes Gary Oldman as Morano's husband Giovanni Martinuzzi, Robert de Niro as her dad Giovanni Morano, Blake Lively as Giovanni's spouse Matilde Morano (née Bresciani), and Francesca Neri as Angela Morano, Emma's sister.
