Hyakujo was a monk of the Brotherhood of Shinsei who became the Master of the Temple of Osano-Wo. He reached the age of 110 years old in 1159, and all his life lived in the temple, since he was left at its gates as an infant in a basket. A skilled sohei who could kill in an instant, Hyakujo had an unbreakable soul. Despite his abilities, he had a kind and generous spirit, and was a gentle but unyielding teacher to the monks beneath him.
