A Lyran count was a Lyran noble, inferior to a Lyran duke and to the King-Emperor of the Lyran Star Empire. In the second half of the 23rd century, they operated border outposts and wielded a great deal of power among its county. The counts often rivaled each other and this was how the power of dukes over their subordinated was maintained. (TOS video game: Starfleet Command) One famous count of the late 23rd century was Virakas, who controlled the Iron Fang County during the ISC War of Pacification.
