The Aurora-class cruiser was a frontline cruiser being designed for the Empire until its collapse in 4128. The contract was eventually found and taken up by the Fourth Republic, and the RAS Aurora was completed in late 4129. Needing frontline ships with more offensive capabilities than the Defiant-class cruisers that made up a good portion of the Republic's fleet, multiple Auroras were built alongside each other. The Republic was able to field several dozen of these ships by late 4130.
