The Empire of Maya (New Mayan: Hantaak'Maaya and Maaya; Commonly Maya) is an empire located in Central America that shares a border with the United States to the north, the Gulf of Maaya and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador to the south. Maya is the oldest country in the Americas, dating back to the founding of Mayapan in 10.19.16.13.0 (March 23rd, 1221). The country survived the Spanish invasion by routing Spanish forces to the South at the Inca Empire, which led to its ultimate downfall. The Treaty of Mayapan was signed with the Spanish on 11.15.1.8.15 (August 13th, 1521), which recognized the Maya as a sovereign and independent people, and the Spanish agreed not to settle at latitudes higher than the extent of present day Ecuad
