The Beast of the Western Wilds was a particularly large and threatening subspecies of the Great Kar, that menaced human attempts to settle the Western Wilds in the early years of the Kingdom of Stofonia. They were eventually exterminated, but remain a proverbial figure of power and ferocity. Supposedly the Kar employed by later Stofonian armies were descended from these early Beasts, but this is difficult to substantiate.
