Zinc oxide is a white pigment. It is most often recognized as an ingredient found in "the white stuff people put on their nose when they go to the beach", this is becuase it serves to block Ultraviolet light. It also has the ability to absorb moisture, and for this reason, it is a popular ingredient in gelatin prosthetics.
